Okay so a while back I posted a blog and I didnt have nice things to say about the title of Nas' new album, "Nigger." But after hearing the first record, I must recant. I don't like being wrong, but I'm glad that I'm wrong in this instance.
This song is so the reason why I just cant completely leave Hip-Hop alone. Filled with it's hypocrisy, inconsistency, faults, and all...Hip-hop was created as the embodiment of emotional energy that had no outlet for expression. This song is expressing an unbridled emotion that is not fueled by money, sex, drugs, or anything else materialistic. This is the expression of anguish and angst and his desire to be above it all (including his ignorant ass Aston Martin reference)....and this is why I love Nas...and this is why I still love Hip-Hop.
Barack Obama, Nas...let's invite the world to "be a nigga too."
